When the temperature is so low, the motivation to walk outside and actually make it to the gym is not easy to find. Most of us think that next week it will be different and that you have months until the summer.
It seems a bit premature to talk about the summer body in January. But since many of us make fitness-oriented resolutions, the best time is probably now. Everything we do or do not do in the next two or three months determines what we look like in the summer. We all know that summer bodies are made in winter so you need to motivate yourself to stay fit even in the cold.
8 ways to motivate yourself to work out when all you want to do is curl up under the covers:
Find someone to hit the gym with. This will encourage you to actually go if someone is there waiting for you.
If you look good, you feel good! If you buy new clothes, you look forward to wearing it at the gym so that’s a great push to get you off the couch.
Most people are discouraged by their weight and give up because they don’t immediately see results. Be patient, change will eventually come if you stick to it.
If you are one of those people who looks for the couch as soon as you get home from work, you are not alone. To make sure you don’t spend the rest of the day on the couch, pack your gym bag the day before and take it to work with you. If you are already out for the day, you have no excuse to skip the gym.
If you are always running on the treadmill, try picking up some weights to see what this can do to your body. Once you start noticing changes in places you don't typically target, you'll be addicted to the results.
The best way to create a routine is to make and stick to a schedule.
Everyone keeps an outfit in their closet that used to fit 5 years ago with the hope that one day it will look good on them again. Deep down you know that to rock that outfit you absolutely need to hit the gym.
If you keep up with the rest of your appearance, you want your body to match so that’s an extra push to exercise. So make sure you keep your hair salon appointments because feeling good is just as important as looking good. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.
